Here it is – the official Spring 2022 “Zuwharrie” thread!
Who is it?
It’s this crazy group. Anyone who is a member here is invited! A few other friends may show up as well!
When is it?
The fun goes down May 11 – 15, 2022. That’s Wednesday through Sunday.
Where is it?
This is in the Uwharrie National Forest, located between Denton, NC and Troy, NC. We will offer camping (for as many as the Forest Service will allow!) at Group Camp section B.
What activities will take place?
Camping of course. Fellowship is the key element. This is a chance to catch up with old friends, and make new ones!
Trail rides will take place at the discretion of those who wish to partake. We will not officially arrange them, though you’re welcome to form groups in this thread if you like. Otherwise, just catch up with someone in camp! ***Disclaimer – individuals enjoy trail rides at their own risk. Wheel responsibly. Be certain your gear and your abilities match the demands of the trail under the conditions at the time***
A raffle: to be honest, this one is a maybe. Nothing is set in stone at this time other than to say we’ll work on it. Stay tuned here!
Saturday evening’s customary dinner will be a potluck situation. Depending on how many people show, we could grill, or follow other options. It would be most helpful to have a volunteer to help coordinate a potluck! Post up if you’d be willing to help!
Camp activities: we have a “camp” cornhole set and a giant Connect 4 game. Other activities or game ideas are welcome! Keep it safe, of course. Perhaps no knife juggling?
What is the cost?
Trail passes are available at the Outpost in two flavors. Daily passes are $5, season passes are $30. One is required for each rig used on the trail.
Attending group camp festivities will cost $20 per person (free for kids 12 and under). Other camping arrangements are available in the Forest should we reach capacity, and are the responsibility of the person(s). A registration page will soon be available. You’re encouraged to sign up ASAP, as this will be first come, first serve!

What else do I need to know?
This may be difficult to cover for every scenario. The basics are have fun, be safe, be responsible, no alcohol on the trail or in camp. This is a family friendly event so all are welcome!
