If you want the most out of your Samurai you will need to eventually swap your stock low range gears for something deeper.  The stock low range in your transfer case is fine with 26″ tires. But if you are using 32″ or bigger tires the Sumo Gear’s 6.4:1 kit is for you.  6.4:1 Transfer-case gears are 182% lower. This means that at any given RPM you will be crawling at nearly a third the speed with much more torque.

High range is reduced by 17% which will return gearing to stock with 30″ tires. 

When you can crawl within the engine’s powerband you will have better throttle response, smoother steering control, and mountain goat climbing ability.
